Heart House Construction FAQ's:
Is the same composite material used for the frame of the deck?
No, the weight and load-bearing ability of the composite material
make it impossible to use as framing material. Heart House
will use an ACQ treated lumber or Hem Fur lumber, as that is all
that is allowed by the building department.
Can the deck support a hot tub or a sunroom?
Yes! Heart House builds decks that exceed the requirements
of the regional building department. This means that when
a deck is required to support a load of 60 lbs per square foot,
our deck will actually support 240 lbs per square foot.
We utilize a "beefier" frame and support system that gives
your deck a more stout appearance and a much greater life expectancy.
How are inspections and building permits handled?
Heart House takes pride in relieving you from the hassles and disruptions
of permits and inspections. On a typical deck built from the
ground up, four (4) inspections are required throughout the process,
all of which are scheduled and handled by Heart House.
Can an existing deck be re-done using composite decking material?
Absolutely! Assuming the frame and structure of the deck
are in good condition, and the joist spacing is 16" on center
or less.
Oasis Decking by Alcoa
For more than 120 years, Alcoa has been making products to renew and beautify the home. Alcoa is known the world over for quality, innovative products that make life better. Alcoa now offers a dramatically different composite deck system. Oasis by Alcoa combines leading-edge technology with old world craftsmanship for a deck that delivers year after year.
Homeowners love Oasis because it offers:
- The most popular color pallet: Pacific Redwood, Carolina Pine, New
England Grey, and Teak
- The most natural wood appearance in the industry that never needs staining
or painting
- Barefoot friendly performance. Non-porous boards that will never
rot, splinter, split, cup or check for barefoot enjoyment year
after year.
- Solid construction. Oasis is engineered for high plank strength for reduced "spongy" feel.
- Eco-friendly manufacturing and packaging, easing burden on the environment.
- A 25-year limited warranty-backed by Alcoa, a name you can trust!
Oasis is composed of yellow pine wood flour and virgin high-density polyethylene (HDPE).
Because the finely ground wood flour is evenly coated with
polyethylene, Oasis is much more dense than other composites
and provides a thorough coating of color throughout the plank.
With break-through styling and the most realistic embossing
in the industry, Oasis offers a stunning visual that mimics
the natural beauty of real wood, without the hassles of waterproofing,
staining or splinters.
We are really spoiled in Colorado with the 300 plus days of sunshine,
the blue Colorado sky, and not to mention the breathtaking views
available almost from any backyard. Are you enjoying
these benefits as much as you could? Are you spending time
sanding or staining that old deck, or how about trying to BBQ in
the wind only to have your BBQ snuffed out? How about that
old deck on its last leg ready to fall over, or maybe it just wasn't
designed with your exterior views of our scenery taken into consideration.
There could be a solution: Let Heart House's design team work with
you to help you increase your families equity in your home with
a custom deck, while also helping you to increase your exterior
living area for your family to enjoy.
Heart House has been serving homeowners just like you in Colorado
since 1989, and has worked hard on delivering better value to consumers.
We take pride in our motto of "Top Quality for Less."
